Workplace Health required a graphic on a letter size ( 8.5″x11″) canvas that would illustrate the Workplace Health Leadership Team roles and how they worked together. Their existing design, a flow chart indicated hierarchy and although it contained information of all the team members it lacked concept design, role description, and a mental picture form and function. It was also unclear why staff were divided into different boxed groups when holding the same job title.
During the Co-design process it was discovered that rather than indicating people it would be more sustainable and informative to indicate roles and their geographic jurisdiction. Furthermore, the client indicated that the department falls essentially into two functions and this would need to be illustrated somehow in the model. The result was a somewhat organic flat model that would illustrate less hierarchy and a robust dynamic system.
